Maker Feature with Sweet Tooth Canberra

We get a little excited every time we send off a batch of beautiful Petite Ingredient flowers to our amazing customers. We get even more excited when we see what stunning creations you make with them. This month we had the joy of chatting with Sumayyah and Shadi of Sweet Tooth Canberra. Starting as a hobby for a Husband and Wife team which grew into a fantastic and successful business - it was an absolute pleasure to hear their story!

Tell us about your story, how long have you been running Sweet Tooth, and how did you start?

The beginnings of Sweet Tooth are just like any other classic baking business. It started off as a hobby, back in 2015, making cakes and cupcakes for friends and family. I (Sumayyah) loved baking from such a young age and it was my outlet to escape the stresses of everyday life. Soon enough, word got out and we started to receive requests for desserts every month. All this while juggling full time office jobs. Our hunger (pardon the pun :P) grew in 2017, to turn Sweet Tooth into a boutique cake business. Whilst on maternity leave, we worked on our website and created an Instagram page. People started loving our creations and before we knew it, orders were coming through daily. We still get that ‘happy dance feeling’ every time we get a new order enquiry. We appreciate all the love and support we receive each and every day and could not do this without our clients.

Your favourite cooking/baking ingredient, and why it’s your favourite:

Sprinkles! They make anything look good ☺️

Your favourite Petite Ingredient flower, and why it’s your favourite:

Dried rose petals - they add the most elegant touch to cupcakes

Name something you can’t live without:

Each other and our gorgeous little boy! Oh and the oven, mixers, and pretty much the entire kitchen!

The best thing about your business?

Clients allowing us to be a part of such special milestones. And of course living off cake scraps.
